A Journey of Discovery

We’ve been touring around Japan, working on a video for next week that focuses on cruising and sailing in this stunning country. As part of our preparations, we met with a gentleman who is building a catamaran in Japan – a rare sight indeed. The only guy, in fact, building a sailboat in the whole of Japan! His workshop is truly inspiring and has whetted our appetite to explore more about the world of sailing in Japan.

It’s often considered one of the quietest big cities in the world and its peaceful atmosphere made us feel like we were truly stepping into a place of tranquility amidst its historical palaces, temples, and castles.

The adventure doesn’t end with beautiful landscapes; we discovered hidden gems like an unexpected bamboo forest off the beaten path. We found serene rivers, vibrant towns filled with unique culture and traditions, not to mention some incredibly delicious local cuisine!

Ninja Alert

In true The O’Kellys style, we’ve been on the lookout for ninjas during our stay. Although no real-life ninjas were encountered, it did get us thinking about how one might know if they had met a ninja in Japan. After all, the ninjas blend so seamlessly into their surroundings that you could easily walk past them without ever knowing!

Embracing the Unknown

The beautiful country of Japan has opened its doors to us, and in return, we’re opening up new territories for cruising enthusiasts. It’s an unknown territory when it comes to sailing content, but with experts and passionate builders leading the way, there’s no doubt that more and more people will be drawn to this exciting opportunity.
