Sailing the ICW North Carolina to Virginia Part 3, Alligator River, Coinjock, Great Bridge

From naval harbor history to oyster happy hours, the charm of Norfolk is unmatched. It’s one of our top ten towns to visit on our sailboat. But this episode is not about Norfolk, its about the final few days of our 7 day trip, sailing the rivers and bays of North Carolina and Virginia.

In part 1, we departed the anchorage in Beaufort, North Carolina for a day sail to Oriental.

In part 2, we ventured further away from civilization sailing the Neuse River toward RE Mayo.

In part 3, we pick up where we left off, with a day of motoring through the lengthy Pungo River canal and we dropped hook in our trusty anchorage on the Alligator River. On Day 4, we continued with a mix of motoring and sailing across the Abarmarle Sound and Slept on a little corner in the North River just one day away from Great Bridge Virginia.
