After 5 glorious days in Avila Beach we had a good weather window to go around Point Conception and Point Arguello to get to our next destination of Santa Barbara. The two points are known as the Cape Horn of the Pacific and can get incredibly nasty for sailors so we carefully watched Windy, PredictWind, and NOAA forecasts and took off on July 8th for what we thought would be a quick overnight sail. Check out this episode for our passage from Avila Beach to Santa Barbara and the nightmare we faced as we dropped anchor in Santa Barbara.

SV Cosmo
Cosmo is a 2000 Dufour Center Cockpit sailboat. Supposedly there are only 15 of these models built in the world, which would make sense since we still haven’t found an owner’s manual or proper documentation from Dufour. She is a 43 foot vessel with 2 cabins, 2 heads, and we’ve beefed her up with so many upgrades and features since 2020 we’ll need to start a whole separate series on those projects.
