[Ep 69] 26 Miles, Crazy Weather & Our Biggest Catch Yet | Canal de Ballenas & Isla Mejia

After several days in Alcatraz Cove, it's finally time to continue north through the infamous Canal de Ballenas toward Refugio. What should have been a straightforward 26-mile passage quickly turned into a day of constantly changing conditions, from unexpected high winds to complete calm, before ending with a beautiful sail into one of the most remote corners of the Sea of Cortez.

Before reaching Refugio, we couldn't resist making one more detour to Isla Mejía. With crystal-clear water and incredible visibility, we geared up for a spearfishing session that turned into our most successful one yet, including our biggest fish to date: a 13-pound snapper.

Back aboard Cosmo, it's time to get some work done. Liya puts salvaged materials to good use with another sewing project while Armand continues chasing down the mystery behind our 12V Starlink conversion. After hours of troubleshooting, the solution turns out to be surprisingly simple.

⛵ In this episode:
• Crossing Canal de Ballenas
• Unexpected wind conditions
• Isla Mejía anchorage
• Our biggest spearfishing catch yet
• DIY sewing project aboard Cosmo
• 12V Starlink troubleshooting and the final fix
• Fresh snapper sandwiches for lunch

We're Armand, Liya, and Pinot, documenting our journey as we cruise full-time aboard our sailboat Cosmo. Thanks for coming along!

If anyone says living on a boat is a vacation, they’re lying or they’ve never lived on a boat 😂😂

Don’t get us wrong, we love living on Cosmo but it’s definitely not all sunshine, rainbows and pina coladas on deck. More often it’s chasing down sources of leaks, basic errands taking 4 times as long, figuring out how to fix something, sweaty humid cabins, and constantly checking weather forecasts ...
