[Ep 67] Full-Time Sailing: The Unfiltered Reality of Passage Day in Baja Mexico

📍 Bahía de los Ángeles, Canal de Ballenas & Alcatraz Cove🌊 Sea of Cortez, Mexico
Ever wonder what a normal sailing day looks like for full-time cruisers?
In this episode, we're taking you along for the entire process as we prepare Cosmo for a longer passage north. After returning to Bahía de los Ángeles to top off our diesel, refill our propane tanks, and stock up on supplies, we planned to make a quick stop before heading to Refugio on the northern tip of Isla Ángel de la Guarda.
Of course, cruising life rarely goes exactly according to plan.
Strong winds kept us waiting in BLA for a few extra days before we finally got a weather window. Then came boat prep, weather checks, a jib furler issue shortly after departure, a fish on the line, light winds through the infamous Canal de Ballenas, and ultimately a change of plans when it became clear we wouldn't reach Refugio before sunset.
Instead, we tucked into Alcatraz Cove for the night and discovered a new anchorage along the way.
⛵ In this episode:• Passage preparation aboard Cosmo• Reprovisioning in Bahía de los Ángeles• Waiting for a weather window• A day in the life of full-time cruisers• Canal de Ballenas• Jib furler troubleshooting• Fishing underway• Alcatraz Cove• Life aboard in the Sea of Cortez

We’re Liya, Armand, and Pinot, sailing full-time aboard Cosmo and sharing what life is really like out here…plans change, things go wrong, and somehow it always turns into a story.
