Sailing Ocean Life Through their eyes

Heya, we’re Cozzy and Mitcho. Thanks for joining us on our Sailing Ocean Life as we see through our family’s eyes what it’s like living SOL.

Twelve months in the planning, multiple text messages in the making, and continual checking the wind and weather was just a glimpse of what it took to welcome Mitcho’s family (Lou, David, Hunter, Oscar & Liam) aboard Ocean Lady and we were pumped! AND after the news Cozzy received regarding a large lump found on her liver just before Christmas certainly made us all appreciate the efforts it took to get together and we’re so blessed to be here, at Serrurier island (again)…

But… this time we are seeing the stunning, spectacular beauty of Serrurier island through their eyes, and their eyes were way more attuned to every moving thing. Their eyes drunk in the spectacular sunsets and flocks of birds that squawked past. Their eyes danced with joy when watching baby turtles escape the crabs’ claws. Their eyes marvelled at the squeaky white sand and crystal clear aqua coloured water with colourful, fancy fish swimming past. Their eyes feasted on the wonder of mother nature and how well she guides Mummy turtles to the right spot on the beach to give birth to her babies.

So was the joy we all experienced when we were on the beach when a clutch of baby turtle eggs hatched and the bale of baby turtles scurried down to the shoreline British bulldog style, those that get through, get to live. We were curious what all the crabs were doing running along the shore, until we saw a crab cradling a baby turtle ready to enjoy a fine feast, what can you do, walk away... that's mother nature. But we did have a win when we found a baby turtle on its back so Lou lovingly ushered baby to the water. We have no idea if she'll make it, but it was reassuring to see lots of baby turtles swimming around our boat in our green light the next night so some must have made it, that far anyway. Lou researched turtles and sadly less than 1% live to give birth, such low odds.

Anyway, thanks for joining us on this adventure, we love having you on board, it makes it so much more special!
