Is sailing FUN?
Heya, we’re Cozzy and Mitcho. Thanks for joining us on our FUN but sometimes crazy Sailing Ocean Life as we continue our sail north to Darwin.
This week we leave our sheltered haven, Dixon Island to sail non-stop to Broome which we’re predicting is a 3–4-day sail. We chose to sail directly to Broome rather than hugging the coast, to arrive in time for Cozzy to take part in a hospital appointment via phone, however, the winds had a totally different plan. At the time of her appointment, we were at the mercy of the strong winds with no internet connection and no chance of getting anywhere near one for days – very frustrating.
We weren’t expecting smooth sailing sadly, we had researched this passage, so we were aware of the nasty easterly winds and rough seas that were a sure thing on this stretch of coast, but we just had to get on with it.
