Caribbean Dreams as we say Goodbye - Eps 72
Hey SOLMates, welcome back to Sailing Ocean Life!
This episode marks the end of a huge chapter for us as we say goodbye to Lombok and to our amazing mates, Cathy & Steve - and we’ve got BIG NEWS for you at the end.
We sail into the gorgeous little island of Gili Air, one of the famous Gili Islands and a true sailor’s paradise. No cars, just bikes, horse carts, and welcoming locals, it’s the kind of place that makes you want to drop anchor and stay awhile. We take it slow, circumnavigate the island, sip sunset cocktails from beanbags on the sand, and soak up one of those sunsets that will live rent-free in our memories.
Next, we head to Lovina Beach, North Bali, where we sadly farewell our wonderful mates and Captain Patrons, Cathy & Steve - whose adventures with us end… for now. Friends like them turn beautiful places into unforgettable memories, and we’re so grateful.
Life moves on. A routine detour sees me flying home for an MRI check-up after liver cancer was removed in 2023. But of course, we don’t do boring, our journey to the airport turns into an adventure, discovering hidden chalets, twin waterfalls all to ourselves, and an unforgettable Indonesian food-truck feast, complete with smoky kebabs, fiery sambal, and the dessert that stole my heart, Martabak Manis.
As the sun rises, we head towards Bali—and with that, we say goodbye to our Indonesian footage… for now. Life has sailed forward: house sold, everything packed, and a big move to the Caribbean is underway—and you’re coming with us!
So, this episode is both a farewell and a beginning. Join us next time as we sell the house, put a cheeky offer on a boat, and start planning our new adventure on the other side of the globe.
