What kind of boat is Zatara?

Zatara is a custom-refitted Privilege 585 catamaran, a heavy-displacement French-built multihull renowned for its 'tank-like' structural authority and blue-water comfort.

Where is Sailing Zatara currently located?

As of May 2026, Keith and Renee are navigating the South Pacific (French Polynesia), having recently completed their third transit of the Panama Canal.

How many children does Sailing Zatara have on board?

While they originally set sail with four children in 2016, as of 2026, the older children have transitioned to college, while the younger Z-Crew members (Jack and Finn) remain active aboard.

What happened to their first boat?

They originally set sail on a Beneteau 55 monohull in 2016 but transitioned to the Privilege 585 catamaran after one year to gain more internal volume and structural security for their global circumnavigation.

How does Sailing Zatara afford to sail full-time?

The journey is funded through a combination of asset liquidation (selling their Texas home), YouTube ad revenue, a dedicated Patreon community, and their 'Bluewater Cruising' educational workshops.

What is 'The Real Cost of Cruising'?

It is a forensic financial workshop and academy series developed by Keith and Renee to provide prospective cruisers with a realistic, numbers-based plan for funding and sustaining a life at sea.
