Our Sails Ripped on Their Last Journey Before a Massive Upgrade! — Sailing Yabá

Episode #326Before

Yabá's old canvas had to take Yabá on one last mission: a 180-nautical-mile offshore passage to Vitória, Espírito Santo, where the big sail swap and custom gaff rigging overhaul will finally happen.

With her biggest crew on board yet, she started the trip hunting for a lost anchor before heading out into open water. But traditional wooden boat sailing is never without drama. Between an engine breakdown, a major sail rip mid-passage, and heavy weather rolling in, this final run tested everything. Fortunately, the ocean provided some fresh fish along the way to keep spirits high!

In this episode:

Searching for the lost anchor in Arraial do Cabo

Setting sail with our biggest crew to date

180 nm offshore sailing passage to Vitória, Brazil

Engine trouble & a torn sail mid-ocean

Deep sea fishing & cooking fresh fish on deck

Prepping for the massive gaff rig and sail replacement
