Unexpected Chaos: Autopilot And Navigation System Fails While Sailing | Sailing with Six | S3 E9
In the previous episode, we had quite an adventurous time in Fakarava. Unfortunately, as we attempted to sail towards Rangiroa, we encountered a storm which pushed us out of our usual track and left us running low on fresh food supplies. Little did we know that even more chaos was waiting for us en route! <!– wp:heading {Unexpected chaos as we leave the beautiful Fakarava atoll for an overnight sail to Rangiroa atoll. As we leave the safety of the atoll alarms start going off every 20-30seconds and our navigation instruments begin to fail.
With Bella at the helm hand steering and no wind or depth readings we investigate all the possibilities. The rest of the crew rally together, pulling all the cabinets apart to follow the wiring and try and remedy the situation. After a few hours Bella takes a rest and Mum takes over while Dad and Finn continue the troubleshooting. Will we work this out?
We arrive in Rangiroa and in the safety of the harbour we find a solution. We explore the atoll before pushing off for Tahiti where we have to get permission to pass the airstrip on our way to the anchorage. A unique moment where we float in position as we wait for an aircraft to clear the airspace before we can proceed. Welcome to Papette!
