S1E25. Sailing UV. Aft Cabin Rebuild & Gas System Headaches | Progress on Our Henry Morgan 56 Refit
Nothing ever goes as planned in this week’s boat refit — leaks, gas lines, and chaos in the aft cabin! Welcome back aboard Sailing UV! In this week’s episode, I dive back into the aft cabin refit on my 56ft Bruce Roberts Henry Morgan ketch — but as usual, nothing goes as planned. From chasing down leaks and fighting with red chalk to sorting out the gas system and dreaming up new diesel tank ideas, this episode is full of the real, unfiltered ups and downs of boat life.
If you’ve ever wondered what it’s really like refitting a world cruiser on your own — with a dog as your first mate — you’ll want to stick around. Between the messy progress, unexpected detours, and a few moments of pure “what was I thinking?”, it’s all part of the adventure that gets us one step closer to sailing around the world.
👉 What to expect in this episode:
Installing the new aft cabin sole
Tackling leaks and old boat quirks
Sorting out the propane system
Talking diesel tanks, noise insulation & design ideas
Honest moments, laughs, and lessons learned
I’m Jonathan, and with my dog Violet, we’re rebuilding our 1996 Bruce Roberts Henry Morgan 56 to sail her around the world. Subscribe and join our journey as we chip away at this dream one project at a time.
