After over a month of Quarantine on our boat due to Covid-19, we were finally able to go ashore and tour the Annaberg Sugar Plantation. The Plantation is part of the Virgin Islands National Park, located on St. John, USVI.
Located on a bluff overlooking the British Virgin Islands, enjoy our hike through the ruins of the plantation as we stretch our legs with a little bit of R&R time on land. Our sailboat is anchored in the distance below in Leinster Bay. We explore the architecture and functionality of a working sugar plantation in the late 1700’s and early 1800’s. The Annaberg Mill features a windmill, horse mill, boiling room, and distillery.
We show how coral was used in its construction and discuss quickly how this was damaging and why coral and marine life, in general, should be preserved. We are very thankful for our National Parks and the ability to be in such a beautiful place during this crisis. We hope to bring our views to others to boost morale. Enjoy!
