Back to the basics [Ep. 54]

Sun, sand, salt and a boat full of fresh fruit... that's the cruising life aboard Supernova this week.
We are loving our life in the San Blas Islands of Panama, settling in to the island life while we get some more boat work done and look after our cute little castaway Coconut.

Welcome back to our channel Sailing Supernova! We are currently enjoying our time in the beautiful San Blas Islands in Panama. It has been quite an adventure adjusting to the wet season and learning how to make our boat more comfortable during this hot weather.

Window Covers

The first thing we wanted to tackle was covering our saloon windows. We chose to do so to keep the sun from overheating our boat, as it was becoming quite unbearable inside. The installation wasn’t too difficult, although a bit time-consuming.

Stern Hatches Weather Stripping

Another area we’ve been focusing on is the stern hatches. Our current weather stripping was leaking quite badly, especially during heavy rainstorms in the rainy season. So, we decided to replace it.

Fixing Leaky Chain Plates

The third issue we wanted to address was our chain plates, which are constantly leaking water. This has been a persistent problem throughout our travels.

We have a great solution in mind, thanks to the help of fellow sailor and friend, Brian. He assisted us in designing some 3D-printed parts for fixing this issue. We will be installing these parts when we return to Shelter Bay Marina later this month.

Adapting To Life In The Rainy Season

Living in the rainy season has its challenges, but also brings a lot of beauty and serenity to our lives. We make sure that we enjoy every moment and take care of the boat accordingly.

Thank You!

We want to thank all of you for following our adventures, liking, commenting, and subscribing. Your support means the world to us, and we appreciate every single one of you.
