We’re racing against the weather through the brutal Strait of Messina which is a narrow strait between Sicily and Southern Italy. It connects the Tyrrhenian Sea with the Ionian Sea and can be quite dangerous causing tides and currents up to 3knots and heavy winds funneling between the lands. After last weeks encounter with the massive pod of dolphins we spend a few days in Syracuse to provision and enjoy the 2021 “Euro 2020” football final, ITALY vs ENGLAND. The next morning we head out abruptly for a 100nm journey to beat the bad weather predicted through the Strait of Messina to get to Milazzo so we can prepare our journey to Sardinia.
