In this exciting episode of Sailing Sitka, Jay and Kenna take on the adventure of sailing to Baja Tenacatita.

Sailing 25 Miles South

The adventurous pair set sail from Chamea, eager to explore new territories and test their skills in this uncharted voyage.

Weather Challenges

However, nature tests their determination with inconsistent wind conditions. In one part of the journey, they must resort to motor power, making for a slow yet eventful trip.

Navigating the Mangroves

Once they arrive in Tenacatita, Jay and Kenna embark on an estuary tour through the mangrove jungle. The journey is not for the faint-hearted as it involves navigating narrow, shallow waterways filled with branches and wildlife.

Discovering Hidden Gems

Despite the challenges, the couple discovers paradise on the other side of the mangroves. They indulge in local cuisine and relax in this beautiful, hidden anchorage known as “the aquarium.” Here they join fellow sailors for a laid-back day, soaking up the vibrant tropical atmosphere.

Unforeseen Challenges

Their return through the mangrove is marked by an unforeseen challenge. While racing through one of the narrow tunnels, they accidentally hit a submerged branch and dangerously veer off course. However, thanks to quick thinking and determination, Jay skillfully navigates the Sitka back to safety.

A Relatable Experience

In true Sailing Sitka style, the couple shares a raw and honest account of their experiences – both good and bad. They remind us that in boat life, as with many adventures, we often experience both victories and setbacks, making for a memorable journey.
