⛵ 14,000 nautical miles. Multiple countries. Ocean crossings. And yet we still needed a licence.
After sailing Sea Moon from Australia to the Mediterranean, we recently completed our ICC (International Certificate of Competence) course.
In this episode of the Sailing Sea Moon Podcast, we unpack why we decided to do the course, whether we actually needed it, what surprised us, what we learned, and whether we’d recommend it to other cruisers.
We also discuss what it’s like being assessed after years of real-world sailing experience and share our thoughts on sailing qualifications, competence, and cruising in Europe.
Whether you’re planning your first sailing adventure, dreaming of becoming a liveaboard sailor, or already cruising the world, we hope our experience helps you navigate the often-confusing world of sailing certifications.
