On their sailing journey, Nick and Ruby Rose encountered a major issue when the main sail got jammed, posing a significant challenge to their continued travel.
While sailing 8 miles offshore, the couple tried to lower the main sail, but it only descended a foot before getting stuck. After attempting various solutions such as pulling the sail up and applying tension to the first batten line, Nick decided to go forward and pull with all his might.
With determination, he eventually managed to lower the jammed main sail. However, upon inspection, they discovered that the second-from-the-top baton car seemed to be detached, causing the problem in the first place.
Apart from dealing with the jammed sail, Nick and Ruby Rose found themselves facing a new challenge. The carbon fiber part holding the baton pockets appeared broken and needed replacement. This issue, they realized, was caused by a loose screw in the mast track.
Nick contacted Sea wind and Doyle to seek advice on fixing their boat parts. They were told that similar issues had occurred with another yacht, and the broken baton pocket was not designed for lateral hauling.
To prevent future issues, they made sure to secure all screws in place using extra threadlock. With the problem resolved, they were ready to continue their journey and head into Lanow Town to check out of Malaysia.
With excitement, Nick and Ruby Rose looked forward to exploring the beautiful coastlines of Western Thailand in the upcoming episodes.
Sometimes it's the tiniest mistakes that cause the biggest problems. In this week's episode, we set to diagnosing why our main sail got stuck up the mast, why our batten pocket is cracked open and how to fix this whole issue. We're thrown a bit of a red herring, but when we finally diagnose the problem, we're in for a surprise.

Hey there! We're Nick and Terysa and we’ve become completely obsessed with the idea of sailing around the world and sharing our experiences and information through our sailing lifestyle videos with others.
We met travelling around India, and quickly agreed that rather than “settling down” and doing what most normal people do, we wanted to travel and have adventures! We moved onto our 38 foot monohull in 2014, sailed across the Atlantic twice, cruised the Caribbean, Bahamas and Europe, before buying a brand new 45 ft catamaran!
We hope you enjoy what we do. Please subscribe, like and share.
