July 05, 2024 by Sailing Ruby Rose | Language: EN Play Time: 00:00:53 | SAILING YOUTUBERS

Welcome aboard Sailing Ruby Rose! Today we’re setting sail on a thrilling journey through one of the most celebrated yet daunting waterways – the Singapore Strait, renowned as either the busiest or among the busiest shipping lanes globally. Join us in this pulse-pounding adventure that highlights the mix of excitement and apprehension that comes with venturing into these crowded waters.
Sailing Through the Singapore Strait
We’ve been planning this moment for quite some time. As dawn breaks and it’s officially 7:00 AM, our anchor is up, the sails are ready to catch every breath of wind, and we’re prepared to motor sail down the Singapore Strait. Being amidst one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world can evoke a mix of emotions – anticipation, eagerness, but also a touch of nervousness.
Within the Shipping Lanes
At around 100 meters away from the shipping lanes, we find ourselves in uncharted territories of both excitement and responsibility. The shipping lane border is mere moments away, with massive vessels passing us at rapid speeds. We decide to skirt along its edge as we motor sail under the power of our trusty engine at a steady pace of 8 knots.
Avoiding Close Calls
To avoid any potential mishaps, we maintain vigilant watch. The adrenaline is pumping as every large ship that enters or leaves the Singapore Strait must comply with strict maritime traffic schemes. Our hearts race as each container ship, oil tanker, and cargo vessel inches past us within the shipping lane, reminding us of the raw power at sea.
Singapore – A Beacon on the Horizon
Against the backdrop of our exhilarating journey through one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world, Singapore emerges as a beacon on the horizon. The island nation is not just an iconic global financial hub but also holds immense strategic maritime importance.
Embarking on an Unforgettable Nautical Adventure
Sailing through the Singapore Strait with Sailing Ruby Rose has been more than just a passage; it’s an unparalleled nautical adventure filled with lessons about safety, seamanship, and respect for one of the world’s busiest maritime routes. While we feel elated to have navigated this iconic stretch successfully, it reminds us that every sailor must always be ready to face new challenges on the open seas.
Your Next Step
If you’ve been inspired by our voyage and find yourself intrigued by life at sea, there’s much more waiting for you out here. Remember, the seas hold infinite opportunities – whether it’s exploring hidden gems, sailing to untouched islands, or becoming a master mariner like Nick. Hey there! We're Nick and Terysa and we’ve become completely obsessed with the idea of sailing around the world and sharing our experiences and information through our sailing lifestyle videos with others.
We met travelling around India, and quickly agreed that rather than “settling down” and doing what most normal people do, we wanted to travel and have adventures! We moved onto our 38 foot monohull in 2014, sailed across the Atlantic twice, cruised the Caribbean, Bahamas and Europe, before buying a brand new 45 ft catamaran!
We hope you enjoy what we do. Please subscribe, like and share.
