Multiple system FAILURE! How this one small part almost stopped our SAILING!

Welcome aboard, as we embark on another thrilling episode of our sailing journey around Malaysia!

Our recent days have been spent anchored at the picturesque Tanjung Tengah in Malaysia, where we arrived a few days ago. The primary purpose of our visit to this beautiful location was to clear into Malaysian customs, and fortunately, that task has been successfully accomplished.

Interestingly enough, the anchorage at Tengah provides us with a serene and comfortable environment amidst the bustling activity on the mainland. It’s a remarkable haven for boating enthusiasts, offering an idyllic setting for our upcoming adventures.

Nick’s Fuel Adventure

To fuel up on our journey, we embarked on a rather unusual mission involving dinghy surfing against a metal Jetty in the darkness of the night. Despite the thrilling experience, it highlighted our dependence on essential boat systems and components.

Sailing Towards Capas Island

Ahead of our next destination at Taman Island, we ventured towards a neighboring island called Capas, approximately 8 miles away. This little-known gem was not found in the cruising guide but had been highly recommended by friends who enjoyed their brief stay there.

Ruby Rose’s Floating Home

Navigating our trusty Ruby Rose to Capas Island proved challenging as the ice machine malfunctioned yet again, adding to a series of issues. Despite the adversity, we embraced the beautiful surroundings and prepared for an afternoon of relaxation and work on board.

A Boater’s Challenges

One may think that constant boat failures are overwhelming, but the reality is quite different. While addressing each issue – from watermakers to ice machines and filters – we’re constantly inspired by the support of our patrons.

Constructing a Water Filter System

In the spirit of problem-solving, I decided to construct an emergency water filter system using spare components from our inventory. With a glue gun, spare hoses, and carbon filters, this DIY project aimed to purify our water tank effectively.

A Relaxing Island Holiday

Despite the constant boat maintenance required during our journey, we still found time to relax on Capas Island. With beautiful scenery surrounding us and a refreshing dip in the sea, this break was much-needed for both Nick and myself.

Towards Tengah Island

Our ultimate goal remains to sail to Padang Tioman, but first, we must undertake a 24-hour offshore passage. We’re fully prepared and excited for the challenges ahead, all while capturing every moment on our YouTube Channel.

Catch Up Next Week

Until next time, stay tuned as we continue our journey sailing through Malaysia and eventually make our way to Phuket. Catch us next week as we embark on a spectacular overnight sail to Taman Island, a beautiful haven that’s been long-awaited.

Till then, goodnight and happy sailing!

In this week's episode, we show you what we really do with a so-called 'day off'! Yes, there's tropical island living, and swimming in crystal clear water and exploring a local island, but there's also a lot of boat work and maintenance that needs doing. Join us for a real day in the life!

Hey there! We're Nick and Terysa and we’ve become completely obsessed with the idea of sailing around the world and sharing our experiences and information through our sailing lifestyle videos with others.

We met travelling around India, and quickly agreed that rather than “settling down” and doing what most normal people do, we wanted to travel and have adventures! We moved onto our 38 foot monohull in 2014, sailed across the Atlantic twice, cruised the Caribbean, Bahamas and Europe, before buying a brand new 45 ft catamaran!

We hope you enjoy what we do. Please subscribe, like and share.
