It\’s Time To Do The Scary Thing! | Spinnaker Sailing in Malaysia
Sailing enthusiasts and novices alike are in for a treat as we delve into an adrenaline-pumping adventure narrated by the passionate crew of Ruby Rose 2. Join Teresa and Nick, two avid sailors documenting their experiences on board their sleek catamaran, as they set sail along the picturesque coastline of Malaysia with one thrilling goal in mind: crossing the treacherous yet captivating Singapore Strait.A Test of Bravery and Skill
The couple’s determination is put to the test as they confront one of the most challenging yet exhilarating feats any sailor could undertake: navigating through the heart of the Singapore Strait, which happens to be one of the world\’s busiest shipping lanes. With only six knots of wind at their back and an engine providing support, this passage promises to push their limits while showcasing the power and efficiency of their catamaran.A Symphony of Challenges
Their journey isn\’t just a leisurely sail; it\’s a symphony of challenges that include tackling tricky tides, managing light winds by deploying various sails (the Code Zero and asymmetric spinnaker), and ensuring safe passage through shallow areas with the added complexity of numerous oil rigs and towering shipping vessels. Amidst this sea of challenges, there\’s no room for error.Culinary Delights on Board
The high-stress environment is momentarily alleviated by culinary pleasures such as crispy bacon sandwiches and toasted cheese sandwiches, offering a respite that fuels their resolve for the task ahead.Indonesian Horizons
Peering through the glass of anticipation, they spot Indonesia barely miles away from their Malaysian anchorages, reflecting on how the world seems so much smaller from atop a moving catamaran.Anchored in the City
The end of their eventful day sees them successfully navigating through the congested shipping lanes and finding anchorage near Singapore. As night descends, they revel in a cold beer, hot pasta, and guitar melodies under the stars. An Ode to Courage
Teresa and Nick’s adventure is more than a testament to their sailing prowess; it’s an ode to courage in the face of adversity. Their willingness to tackle unfamiliar waters, armed with knowledge, experience, and a sense of humor, paints a vivid picture of what it means to truly embrace life on the water.Next Steps

Hey there! We're Nick and Terysa and we’ve become completely obsessed with the idea of sailing around the world and sharing our experiences and information through our sailing lifestyle videos with others.
We met travelling around India, and quickly agreed that rather than “settling down” and doing what most normal people do, we wanted to travel and have adventures! We moved onto our 38 foot monohull in 2014, sailed across the Atlantic twice, cruised the Caribbean, Bahamas and Europe, before buying a brand new 45 ft catamaran!
We hope you enjoy what we do. Please subscribe, like and share.
