Episode 191 – Meeting Amazing People in Gorgeous Locations, as we Sail the World!

In this episode, we find ourselves staying at one of the most beautiful marinas Nikki has ever seen. We are surrounded by clear turquoise waters and beautifully designed lounging and deck areas where kids swim in the crystal clear shallow water. It’s like nothing we’ve seen before!

Nikki and her family continue their global sailing journey aboard Pickle, a catamaran they’ve refurbished and learned to sail together after Nikki had a life-changing epiphany during an ICU stay.

Their adventure takes them to the picturesque Marina where they meet some fascinating locals. Among these is the possibly founder of the marina who circumnavigated the world, starting this haven in 1993 along with his wife, known as ‘The Mermaid of The Rocks’. This marina was founded on the realization that there was a lack of yacht clubs and facilities throughout Turkey.

The Marina is well equipped with features such as lovely showers (fully air-conditioned), supermarkets and sailing classes for children. It’s nestled among beautiful pine trees and olive groves where fruit, vegetables and even lime trees grow abundantly.

Notably, their encounters reveal the beauty and uniqueness of each location they visit. Whether it’s observing local animals like the curious turkeys roaming around or seeing amazing anchorings in locations like Lagoons with beautiful names, Nikki always finds fascinating details to explore and share.

In this episode, Nikki also discusses how she and her family react when people recognize them in foreign countries while traveling. This is especially peculiar when it happens to be Turkish people who may not typically follow the same channels or platforms where the Pickle Family content is hosted.

Additionally, they experience firsthand an unusual occurrence with a group of jellyfish known for their purple underbellies that Sting fiercely, and their attempt at evening leisure involving fishing gear ends up more thrilling than expected. Their dog Buddy joins in on some fun swimming in the marina before their chilly conclusion to a remarkable day.

Be sure to join us next week as we take on an amazing anchoring challenge in some incredibly scenic locations!
