We Got Through the Storm… Then Dragged Anchor 😳 | Sailing Greece (Poros)
Ep. 205 ~ We sailed from the Ionian Sea through the Corinth Canal and into the Saronic Gulf, heading toward Poros with no real plan—just going with what felt right.
After anchoring near Poros, a strong southerly storm rolled through with gusts over 30 knots. We were fully prepared, stayed alert, and made it through without issues… or so we thought.
Later that night, after the storm had passed and we finally relaxed, unexpected wind picked up again and spun us around—causing us to drag anchor in the dark.
What followed was one of the most stressful moments we’ve had in 3 years of living aboard.
This episode is a reminder that even when you do everything right, conditions can change fast—and staying alert at anchor is just as important as preparing for the storm itself.
From Poros, we continue on to Porto Cheli before heading into the Aegean Sea.
