Stern-Tying in Greece 🇬🇷 + Ancient Olympia
Ep. 211 ~ We leave Pylos and sail north along the western Peloponnese to Katakolon, Greece — the gateway to Ancient Olympia and one of the busiest cruise ship ports in the Ionian Sea.
Before we can explore the birthplace of the Olympic Games, we need to stern-tie our catamaran to the harbor wall. With boats on either side, crosswinds to consider, and a few spectators watching our every move, it's one of those docking maneuvers where everything has to come together just right.
After safely tying up, we explore the waterfront town of Katakolon before setting out early in the morning to beat the cruise ship crowds to Olympia. Walking through the ruins where ancient athletes once competed is incredible, but watching Donovan run a lap around the original Olympic stadium may have been the highlight of the day!
