Crossing the Equator (Sailing Nandji) Ep 93
Sailing a 700nm passage West, we decide to cross the equator, NAKED of course! https://www.sailingnandji.com
In this episode of Sailing Nandji, after visiting the local market in Jayapura and enjoying the street food of Indonesia, it was time to head back to sea and continue our journey West to the Indonesian province of Raja Ampat. The 700nm passage to Sorong took us close to the equator and since we were so close we thought, lets cross the damn thing! We sail off course and head North crossing the equator naked then are greeted by a monster squall. We have a quick party and offer our sacrifice to King Neptune before setting some sails again and sailing south in the strong winds and heavy rain!
We are a young couple with a dog, who with no sailing experience, bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off sailing around the Pacific! We just arrived to Indonesia after cruising the Pacific islands. We departed Australia 12 months ago and have since explored some amazing countries, met some amazing people and experienced cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of no where, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our life doing it! The adventure is just beginning as we sail West with the trades!
