After 4 years of NO water-maker, the time has come to install one on Nandji. The way the world is these days, we think it is needed!

Rainman offer a variety of water maker options to suit your lifestyle and your boats specific needs. If you are interested in purchasing a Rainman product head here https://bit.ly/3kceRpj We installed the 12 volt Naked system which makes 35 litres per hour (not the quoted 70 litres in the video)
This video was filmed in May/June as the global covid-19 pandemic had taken a hold of the world. Neighbouring countries had closed their borders and Malaysia was in strict lock down until the end of June.

In this episode of Sailing Nandji, we. had been anchored away from everyone and everything for 2 months waiting for the world to get back to normal. We are unsure of what will happen next and what we will be required of us to do, potentially leave… As the world is changing so much we decide it is time that we need to be 100% self sufficient, which requires installing a water-maker. We had been getting very creative in our water collecting techniques recently, but with the potential that we could be asked to leave or just in case the zombies start roaming, we are ready to sail off into the distance to live out our days. After 4 years of bathing and washing in saltwater, it is time to shed the salty crust and have a fresh water shower!
We install the Rainman naked 12V system, which can make up to 70 litres per hour and runs entirely from our Solar set up. Which means we make water from the SUN! Now that is self sufficient!!
With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off from Australia sailing to the Pacific! We have since cruised through New Caledonia, Vanuatu, the Solomon islands, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and then onto the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the years to come. With a new engine, we continued onto Thailand, then back down into Indonesia and specifically West Sumatra to live the island life and chase the surf. With our Sailing plans changing, we returned to Thailand to wait for the weather and begin our journey to the northern route of the Indian Ocean to Sri Lanka before heading south across the Indian Ocean once cyclone season has finished and the trade winds begin! We were on our shake down sail when the mooring we were on failed and our home ended up on the reef. We saved the old girl and got her back to the boat yard for repairs to continue on our adventure! Ready to sail across the Indian Ocean, we were only days away from leaving when the pandemic begun closing countries around us… We are stuck for now, but enjoying the slower pace!
We departed the east coast of Australia in July 2017 and have since sailed over 10000nm offshore. We have explored some amazing countries and met some beautiful people along the way. We have experienced so many different and diverse cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our lives doing it! The adventure is just beginning as we sail West with the trades around the World!
