What kind of boat is Magic Carpet?

Magic Carpet is a custom-restored 1982 Cape George 36 cutter, a heavy-displacement Cecil Lange design built for blue-water stability.

Where is Sailing Magic Carpet currently located?

As of May 2026, Maya and Aladino are navigating the Pacific Northwest, focusing on the remote islands and fjords of British Columbia, Canada.

Who are Maya and Aladino?

Maya Eliza is an artist and musician, and Aladino Rovegno is a professional boatbuilder. Together, they document their lives as full-time cruisers and artisans.

What is the 'Northern Voyage'?

It is the title of their first major high-latitude expedition through the Canadian Maritimes and the name of their hardcover book documenting the journey.

What happened to the first Magic Carpet?

The original Magic Carpet was a 28ft Vindo 32. They sold it in 2024 to focus entirely on the larger Cape George 36 for their global expeditions.

How do they afford to sail full-time?

The project is funded by a combination of Patreon supporters, YouTube ad revenue, sales of their 'The Northern Voyage' book, and Maya's art commissions.
