Sailing Against the Huge Tides of Northern France

From crossing the North Sea and exploring Norwegian fiords to discovering the northern culture and wildlife, they have since traversed the full length of the UK and sailed across the English Channel to land on the medieval island of Sark.

<-- wp:paragraph -->While preparing to make their way to the North Coast of France, Sailing Maalie faced a wild night with enormous tides brought in by an immense moon. Their boat was rolled to 30 degrees on either side amidst waves and strong currents, making for a thrilling but challenging experience.

<-- wp:paragraph -->As they exited their anchor in Northern France, the crew witnessed a spectacular sight – a massive pod of tuna fish jumping and breaching close to their boat. It was an incredible moment of nature that left them awestruck and grateful for their cameras.

Despite the complications, they found beauty in the experience, particularly under the bright glow of the super moon which illuminated their journey along the coastal rocks.

<-- wp:paragraph -->As they made their way through the Brittany coastline, Sailing Maalie encountered more challenges and lessons. At times sailing, at other times motoring, they slowly advanced towards their destination amid changing weather conditions.

<-- wp:paragraph -->With a favorable tide and sunfish sightings, Sailing Maalie found their spirits lifted as they prepared to sail into the Channel Island of Breached. Their ultimate goal was to prepare for the big launch point leading up to the biennial B of Bis event. With anticipation building and support from the community, they were ready to take on whatever challenges lay ahead in this thrilling adventure.

Big blue SUPERMOON tides generate fierce currents along the Brittany coastline, and make for some spicy passage making aboard SV Maalie. After crossing the English Channel and cruising the Isle of Sark, we bump in to a shoal of Bluefin Tuna - an extraordinary experience from a small boat. We position ourselves for a passage through the notorious Chenal du Four and Raz de Sein, and get some amazing views of Le Phare du Four!
