Hey everyone, Steph and Travis here, continuing to make our way down south to escape the winter weather!
We continue south from New York City and head down to Cape May, NJ, around to Delaware Bay and up into Annapolis, MD.
Just before departing from Atlantic Highlands, NJ, our Raymarine i70 died when attempting to perform a software update..womp womp. With no resolution after calling Raymarine dealers, speaking with technical support and canvassing for assistance online, we continue onwards without our wind instrument. We were told we’d likely have to send the instrument in for troubleshooting and/or purchase a new instrument…that is, until we’re given a very helpful tip!
[How We Fixed our Raymarine i70]
-Unplugged all other instruments/devices from the MFD and made a new simple STng set up:
STng 5-way Connector
STng Backbone Terminator x2, 1 on each end of the connector
STng Spur Cable to MFD [with its own 12v supply]
STng Spur Cable to i70
STng Power Cable to 12v
-Played with powering the MFD on/off, disconnecting the i70 spur cable and powering on/off the main switch at the panel
-Toggled with the power on/off until the i70 was recognized in the diagnostics page on the MFD
-Uploaded the latest Raymarine software on a Mini SD Card. The MFD recognized that the i70 was able to update.
-Update completed and it now appears to be in working order
