We show you what the check-in process is like when arriving in the Dominican Republic by private vessel and what Luperon, Dominican Republic is actually like.
After reading negative reviews in the sailing community about Luperon Bay as of 2019, we were a little hesitant on sailing here. Stories of crime, bribes, burglaries and not being able to leave your boat unattended were deterrents but we’re glad we travelled here despite reading all the negativity!
We understand how some cruisers arrived and never left. Enjoy!
CHECK-IN PROCESS
– Department of Agriculture – they came to our boat and collected $10 USD
– Armada (navy) boarded our vessel for inspection/paperwork $0
– Customs $0
– Immigrations $70 for our vessel + 2 people
– Port Authority $10 entry to the harbour + $20 for 30 day tourist card/stay in the harbour (based on length of vessel)
