We're into our refit 2.0, Ixion will be better and more prepared than before and will we begin out journey sailing the seven seas. It may be only be a Catalina 30, but it's a massive journey. We've been taken by the serenity and freedom of being at sea and now have set ourselves on a course which will lead us across seas and braving the oceans of the world to share ourselves with all of you and explore how the peoples of the world choose to live. What’s the first step in fixing a keel after running aground? Our keel is cracked, which is commonly referred to as a Catalina smile. When we ran aground, it goes worse. So, time for the diy project masters to get it done.
Catalina had a design flaw in the late seventies and eighties, they put wood in the keel stub. The results lead to a smile like feature at the front of the keel. With our running aground, it’s more like the joker now. At this point we are diy project masters so time to grind away at the keel, and check for any damage that may have been done by wrecking our electric sailboat.
