Thinking About Her Butt Ep145

Sailing Adventures With Family and Friends On Our Catamaran

<-- wp:paragraph --> In this episode, we discuss the wonderful experiences we’ve had with family and friends on our catamaran. We started our sailing journey with a Catalina 42 which we still adore, but at that time, we weren’t living aboard nor had jobs like house owners with fixed incomes. Fast forward to today, where Isabella is our only employment, as we’ve sold our home, quit our day jobs and set sail. And guess what? No regrets! In this video, we enjoy a beach bonanza, while keeping an eye on the weather during hurricane season. As we sail into our adventures with loved ones, we reminisce about a party-filled Key West escapade that led us back to the ‘Garden of Eden’ for some quality time. But before diving into memories and planning our next journey, let’s dive deep into a fun project while maintaining safety at sea. Visualizing Our Catamaranu2019s B-Bottom <-- wp:paragraph --> We were excited to utilize our GoPro to visualize our catamaran’s bottom. Although we encountered some water-related issues, the beauty of sailing through different shades – be it green or blue – is worth the trouble. As part of our expedition, we decided to take depth soundings around our vessel using a handheld sonar. During low tide, we found an old shipwreck that has now become home to birds. It’s amazing how their habitat changes at high tide as they continue occupying it, proving that there’s always more beauty to discover. Creating Our Custom PVC Water Distribution Manifold <-- wp:paragraph --> To address our need for an improved freshwater distribution manifold, we embarked on creating a custom PVC water system. This included designing the perfect connections and utilizing CAD to plan every detail. Our finished product? A masterpiece featuring two M-Fittings – one hot, and one cold, along with valves allowing us to control individual sections effectively. Although Steve humorously compares his work to condoms or overthinking, he perseveres. Testing Our PVC Water Distribution Manifold <-- wp:paragraph --> Once constructed, it was time to test our creation. With Steve connecting a hose and running water through the system, we were thrilled to find out that our manifold passed the leak test! We are particular about keeping our work area clean and organized – our trusty label maker comes in handy for this. Throughout the process, Karen assists by securing fittings as needed. Installing Our PVC Water Distribution Manifold <-- wp:paragraph --> The day of installation arrived. Ensuring our manifold’s proper fitment and alignment, we carefully secured it in place with utmost attention to detail. This beautiful project, just like our beloved catamaran, offers a unique sense of accomplishment that’s worth cherishing. The joy derived from making essential upgrades is indeed fulfilling. Celebrating With Friends and Gifts <-- wp:paragraph --> Itu2019s always more fun when friends are part of our sailing adventures. We hosted several visitors aboard, creating unforgettable memories that are impossible to replicate. As a token of gratitude from one friend, we received an exquisite Isabella tile, making our catamaran even cozier. And it wasn’t just us – shoutouts went to Steve in Detroit and Jack & Amy who visited and left us with fruits, wine, and kindness, Sailing together strengthens bonds between families and friends while sharing incredible moments aboard. Our memories create an unbreakable connection that will be cherished forever.
Beach day, dinghy ride, boat bottoms, shipwreck, water manifolds.

After many rainy days it was time to enjoy a day at the beach. We are beach bums. Using the dinghy and a HawkEye hand held depth sounder, Karen measures the depths around the boat. Steve uses the GoPro to check out the bottom of Isabella and the dinghy. Investigated a supposed shipwreck where birds like to hang out.

Hung out, so to speak, at the Garden of Eden again. You can certainly get an all over tan there.

Rebuilt the fresh water distribution manifold to increase functionality and aesthetics. Added valves to it so that a single circuit can be shut off while keeping the water flowing to the rest of the boat.

Of course we danced.
