This week aboard Sailing IntermissionâŠ
Our basil and dill surprised us by sprouting earlyâwho knew we had such a green thumb? Meanwhile, we tackled some boat chores: Steve sanded rust off the emergency tiller head and gave it a fresh cold zinc coating. That man and his pole… Karen swears he’s just showing off. đ
We’re still stripping (wood, peopleâget your mind out of the bilge), revealing even more of our beautiful African Mahogany. Messy, but worth it!
The dinghy? Oh boy. We left it in the water too long and it turned into an oyster nursery. Baby oysters everywhereâand yep, they squirt. Karen got squirted all over and had to swap her bikini for something more⊠splash-resistant. She may never drink boba tea again. đ
The dinghy got a full Brazilian (youâll see what we mean), and Steve may or may not have outed Karenâs “bald kitty.” Donât worryâitâs all in good fun. We wrapped it all up with some salsa dancing on deck, because why not?

Sailing Intermission
Featuring the sailboat Isabella, a Super Mikado 56 made by the French shipyard CNSO. Sailing, partying, dancing, cooking, and sometimes pushing the limits. This sailboat had been neglected for some time when she was purchased. Lots of cleaning, sanding, refinishing, new lines, refrigerator, pumps, water heater parts, whole boat water filters, bow thruster, lighting, fuel filters, instruments, air conditioning, etc.... Some of the fun with refitting a sailboat is to be able to do economical but quality improvements. Elbow grease saves a lot of money, watching for sales, knowing when substitutions can be made that will last, and of course enjoying the final product. We sail, fish (haha), dance, fly the drone, sometimes wear bikinis, DIY, ride the motorcycle, listen to great music, and enjoy life. Older sailors don't have a clew when to quit; they just keep lubing their winches.
