We went to the beach for some snorkeling. It was too rough and the water was stirred up so that was a bust. Took our Electroscan unit out and installed a holding tank for the forward head. Decided to go to Key West for awhile. At lunch (Poke bowl with Salmon), had a glass of wine, walked around, and relax.

Our slip is great but there is a shoal directly behind it. Grounded there coming in because the channel marker was not where it should be. We got in the dinghy to explore the surroundings and try to measure how much backing distance Isabella would have before hitting the sand. Couldn’t get the laser rangefinder to work so we tied a string to the boat and started measuring depth. Might have 60 feet (not much) to back out without grounding.

Featuring the sailboat Isabella, a Super Mikado 56 made by the French shipyard CNSO. Sailing, partying, dancing, cooking, and sometimes pushing the limits. This sailboat had been neglected for some time when she was purchased. Lots of cleaning, sanding, refinishing, new lines, refrigerator, pumps, water heater parts, whole boat water filters, bow thruster, lighting, fuel filters, instruments, air conditioning, etc.... Some of the fun with refitting a sailboat is to be able to do economical but quality improvements. Elbow grease saves a lot of money, watching for sales, knowing when substitutions can be made that will last, and of course enjoying the final product. We sail, fish (haha), dance, fly the drone, sometimes wear bikinis, DIY, ride the motorcycle, listen to great music, and enjoy life. Older sailors don't have a clew when to quit; they just keep lubing their winches.
