The Party is OVER! In 2 days ~ No more unlimited Starlink in the ocean
We all knew this day was coming we just didn’t expect it to be so harsh. Starlink has dropped their Monopoly hammer and has put together a new service for us sailors.
Yes, they do have a Mariner plan available, but the cost of that is way out of reach for the large majority of people on boats. We have until May 9th to choose our next service plan and to be honest I’m not 100% sure what we are going to do. The coverage info is very grey and I think it is going to end up being a, try it out and see kind of situation.
Being digital creators is how we are making money for our cruising kitty. We love sharing our adventures with you. This is how we stay connected with friends and family, do weather routing and trip planning, research for boat repairs and let’s be honest keep up with social media, but the list goes on and on. We also had plans to start working at remote companies online. These things are now very difficult thing to accomplish.
The big hope is that we are just going through growing pains and everything will work out in the end.
