All alone when the tourists go home...you won't believe you can do THIS in GREEK WINTER! ❄️
In this extra special episode, we bring a little twist to our usual uploads, it’s about what it’s like here in Greek winter when the tourists have gone…. Have you ever wondered what it’s like in the colder months and would you be surprised to learn that despite the sun still gracing the waters edge - the mountains become capped with snow, life takes a sleepier step back, and locals emerge from their tourist time-out as cultural traditions and religious ceremonies become forefront.
It’s still entirely possible to sail year round in the Ionian but having a port or marina nearby is common place as storms take on a more ferocious nature & running for cover soon becomes a common occurrence
After one such patch of feeling generally ‘weathered’ by the elements we moored up in lefkada and decided to take a time out for a special occasion…which included a road trip adventure to the mountains which boast ski resorts, inland caves & beautiful lakes where wildlife flourishes… we also enjoyed a needed dose of luxury in Ioannina and famous Metzovo because well - we worked hard to create a lifestyle so that if we ever need to jump ship - we can!
Watch to the end guys because after this wonderful this wonderful break away we returned back to Holly Blue to be ‘greeted’ in typical cat-style!
