In the still of the night, we're jolted awake by a loud crash—our boat has been struck by a local fishing vessel.
What follows is a chaotic and surreal exchange of words in English and Italian before the other boat speeds off into the darkness, leaving us stunned and assessing the damage.
Shaken but safe, we sail onward to the tranquil beauty of Oliveri Bay. There, we stretch our sea legs with a steep climb to the hilltop church of Tindari. The walk is tough, but the panoramic views are worth every step. As night falls, a dramatic thunderstorm rolls in over the bay, capping off a day we won’t soon forget.
