Before we check into Vista Mar marina for our annual engine maintenance and a run for provisions, we stop at John Wayne Island. Gifted to john Wayne by the President of Panama for his long standing support of the return of the Panama Canal to Panama, this island has seen numerous uses over the years. The most recent has been as a tourist resort with a Hollywood theme. Closed since 2018, the resort is now for sale and is disrepair. However, it makes for an interesting stroll in this out-of-the-way corner of Panama.
