It is time for us to explore the gem of the Haruaki Gulf, Waiheke Island. Known for excellent wine and cafés, this island is a quick ferry ride from Auckland. We motor down on a weekend and after dodging the rush hour boat traffic tuck in to wait for a perfect day to tour this island. After weathering several days of storms, we head to the beach, the dinghy and make a day of our walking tour. We visit the amazing Mudbrick Winery and after a relaxing afternoon sipping wine and enjoying the spectacular views, we head back to our dinghy only to discover we are stranded high and dry on the mudflats. Come along for our tour and see how we deal with this unexpected stranding.
