Four years ago we moved from England to California not knowing a thing about sailing. In September 2019 we sailed our 36 foot boat under the Golden Gate Bridge and turned left, leaving the San Francisco Bay behind but taking our cosy home with us. For us, this is the journey of a lifetime. We intend to visit some of the world's most beautiful and unspoiled cruising grounds. We'd like to share our trials and tribulations with you here, where we hope to bring you an authentic snapshot of our new life afloat!

We swapped our cosy, upriver anchorage on Panama’s Chagres for a lumpy, confused Caribbean sea. We were glad of the short journey and couldn’t wait to tuck in behind the breakwater of the Panama Canal on our way to Shelter Bay Marina. After that, the Captain’s perfect docking sent him on a power trip that lasted the whole week. Pedro was quickly deployed on deck scrubbing duty (music to the Captain’s ears) and we got through a long list of marina jobs including a huge provision for our remote sailing to come!
