Four years ago we moved from England to California not knowing a thing about sailing. In September 2019 we sailed our 36 foot boat under the Golden Gate Bridge and turned left, leaving the San Francisco Bay behind but taking our cosy home with us. For us, this is the journey of a lifetime. We intend to visit some of the world's most beautiful and unspoiled cruising grounds. We'd like to share our trials and tribulations with you here, where we hope to bring you an authentic snapshot of our new life afloat!

We complete our delightful passage to Chacala with the spinnaker pulling us gently through calm seas. Despite a couple of mixups with the Captain’s food orders, the sail was one of our best. Arrival in the bay, however proved to be more of a challenge, as the swell poured in and had Bohemia sideways-on in less time than it takes to say “fetch the stern anchor,” which we dutifully did!
Once settled, we spent a week exploring the small town and it’s lush, tropical surroundings. We got some great aerial shots with the drone and made a small tour…. it was only then, when the Captain went to fetch his backpack for provisions, that the disaster began to unfold…
