After a month in Colombia—soaking in the historic charm of Cartagena and cooling off in the lush mountains of Minca—we finally had the boat dialed in and were ready to move on. We sailed out to the Rosario Islands off the coast, the perfect spot to wait for the right weather window before making our passage to Panama.
With strong currents against us, we needed a rare day of light winds and calm seas so we could motor our way through the 125 nautical miles to Puerto Obaldía, right on Panama’s southern border. Once checked in, we set our sights on exploring the remote Atlantic coast as we make our way toward the legendary San Blas Islands.
