Welcome to our channel and thank you for being here.
After 2.5 years of sailing we thought we would share our wonderful journey across the sea with you.
In this episode we tell our crazy story of how it all began….
After a trip to South Africa to visit close relatives, we met a guy called Darryl.. he was a sailor who had started his sailing adventure back in the 1980’s buying his first boat at the age of 28, he told us some awe inspiring stories that literally captured James’ heart and mind! He was hooked….line and sinker…
After watching many others ‘sail away’ on YouTube…and that it is actually possible for 2 people to do it alone, we went to the Southampton boat show and the London Excel to find out more..
With barely any experience between the two of us, we bought a Bavaria C57, ”a bit like my flat in London” is what I said. With that, the deal was done and there was no turning back. James sold his business, I left my career in London, and that was it, we had 6 months to prepare and get ourselves ready for the biggest challenge of our lives….
We went back to South Africa and learnt to sail, sailing in 30-40knot winds, I nearly bailed.. I didn’t. In July 2018, we set sail for the Mediterranean, visiting some wonderful countries along the way, across the Atlantic and have been sailing ever since.
We wished to document our story for loved ones back home who cannot be with us and anyone who would love to be on this journey with us too..
It is all thanks to Darryl who inspired this whole movement, we still keep in contact and have been back to see him and had some really fun times together….maybe one day we might sail to see him!
