'It's definitely a flare - call the US coast guard!!!'| Episode 31
May 08, 2022 by Sailing Aequus | Language: EN Play Time: 00:17:57 | SAILING YOUTUBERS

In this episode
We arrive at Cape May and lay the anchor down for the night after getting very wet and cold, what a difference a day makes!
We get up early the next day and explore the town of Cape May, we don’t find treasure but we find a little piece of heaven, a peanut shop, you are screwed if you have an allergy!
We head to a little restaurant in the town and discuss our sail plan to Sag Harbour and the time we think it will take.
We head back to Aequus and take a quick route past a boat that was going to cause a huge wake.
We wake up at the crack of dawn to start our journey to Sag Harbour
We have some wonderful sailing weather and are able to put both sails up
James cooks some nachos and I get to eat a whole chilly and can’t feel my mouth, James decides he should do a cookery book!
We have to motor at 5am as the wind dies. We finally get some wind and manage to sail again downwind
We make an emergency call to the US coastguard as we see a flare go off, after telling us what is happening, the US coastguard doubt their response to us, as they further question the situation. It becomes increasingly painful as they continue asking the same questions again and again and eventually conclude the situation. We hope they are right!!
We realise we are not going to make it to Sag Harbour in time as we face the sun going down and we still have a long way to go, we decide on plan B which is to head to Montauk.
We find our friend Mike on Ellipsis… we watch the sunset and Mikey decided the hill is our workout, likely he will be gone by dawn lol, knowing Mike
