Exploring east end of Jamaica and Kingston, then sailing west to Oracabessa.
After a 3-day (450nm) sail from Bahamas, we arrived into Port Antonio on the lush green coast of NE Jamaica. From our berth at the Errol Flynn Marina, we visited the town of Port Antonio and explored the eastern end of Jamaica by car. First, heading east visiting The Blue Lagoon, Reach Falls and the distinctly unpleasant The Baths (thermal springs) . The next day, we headed south-west for a long drive to Kingston, returning via the wonderful Blue Mountains with its famous coffee plantations.
Oana took rather ill while in Port Antonio and Glen got on with some maintenance until she had recovered enough for us to sail onto our next anchorage, Oracabessa.
We anchored in a tiny but sheltered bay and explored by dinghy and on foot. The area is famous for being the home of Ian Fleming, the writer of all things James Bond. His house was named Golden Eye and interestingly most places around had adopted the word “Golden” in their name! 24 Feb – 4 Mar 2020
