Herby and Warren begin making the foam pattern for the boomkin. This project will make Windpuff about 5 feet longer, turning this Alberg 30 into a different boat! We made a wooden frame that attaches to the stern of the Alberg, then we filled the space with foam blocks. This is a very rudimentary shape which needs a lot of filling and fairing to make this piece actually function as a pattern. It is important to note that this is not the final length of the boomkin, as it will be cut much shorter. Once the shape is further along, we will decide on the final length. It is always easier to cut it shorter than to make it a little longer!
