Ocean Racers took on the 2017 Round Long Island Regatta with an NYC crew! The race had an epic start in NY Harbor with the first night under stars out in the Atlantic for our new crew. The wind lightened up in the morning and we fought our way to round Montauk in a painful drift around the point.
We chugged through Plum Gut at decent speeds considering the adverse current. By nightfall, we were pushing Hermes, our Pogo 12.50, to the max and reached up to 26 knots according to the tracker!! From 2 AM to finishing at 6:30 AM, we were averaging about 12-14 knots speed and picking off the fleet one by one.
Great time had by all crew! Thanks to Skippers Morgen and Meg, and our awesome crew Barbara, Bill, Colin, David and Inna!
