The Main Man: POV Cam || Pogo 12.50 Main Trimmer at Les Voiles de St Barth

With our big square-top main and running full sail in up to 20 knots of breeze, the mainsheet trimmer is an active role for Caribbean regattas. The Pogo 12.50 is set up for short-handed sailing, so the mainsheet placement is cabin top. The Main Man sits in what we call “The Commander Zone,” with a direct line of communication to the driver and views facing aft.

Main trimmer’s sole position in the Commander Zone gives them first and full access to all clutches, and responsibility for mainsheet and vang trimming. The Main Man must be able to multi-task, anticipate needs, and react fast.

And it’s not just reserved for men — Meg served in this very active role for our 2018 Les Voiles de St Barth team! She is happy though that Clay took over the role when his team came for the 2019 Les Voiles de St Barth…
