Today we're stepping onto something special — a 1986 Burger 87 Flush Deck with Flybridge, one of the true classics of American yacht building. Burger Boat Company has been building yachts in Manitowoc, Wisconsin since 1863, and this one carries naval architecture from the legendary Jack Hargrave. If you know boats, you know that name means business. This girl started life at 81 feet and was extended to 87' in 1992 — giving her that coveted semi-enclosed aft deck and a lazarette big enough to swallow half a marina's worth of gear. She's a semi-displacement aluminum hull, which means she's not just a pretty face — she can actually move. Twin Detroit Diesel 12V92s pushing 1,080hp each get her up to 22 knots top speed, cruising comfortably around 19. We're walking the full layout today: the surprisingly massive pilothouse with a full main helm and three-person bench seating, down into the salon with its classic wood paneling and wet bar, through all three guest suites (owner's cabin, VIP, and twin), and yes — we're checking the engine room, because that's just what we do.
