We built our daggerboard cases from scratch, but was it worth the extra trouble?

Well, the daggerboard cases have now been fully glassed and are ready to go into the boat. But, considering we could have had these molded from Max Cruise and shipped with the other components, was it worth going through the trouble of building them ourselves?
In this last ‘daggerboard build’ series, we wrap our last bits of glass around the cases, sealing in the foam core. But unlike when we made the halves, this was all hand rolled instead of vacuum bagged. A much more laborious process, which has left us totally drained.
It was a learning experience for sure – and now we can say we built a major part of the boat from scratch. Watch the full episode to see if we thought it was worth the extra time and effort.
We hope you enjoy!
Much love from Annapolis!
